On Sep. 19^th 2008, the Chinese Cooperation Team of Euro-Asia Power Quality Initiative held its first member meeting at Beijing Hotel.

        More than 40 delegates from 20 member organizations attended this meeting. Madam Isabelle from Europe gave an introduction of LPQI, Mr. James Li and Mr. Alex Huang from ICA China gave a detailed account of APQI, then the delegates at the meeting began a heated discussion over power quality problems existing in China, as well as over how to implement APQI and enhance its influence.

        Toward the end of the meeting, the delegates reached a consensus as to work jointly to achieve China's power quality Objectives on the platform of APQI China Cooperation Team. APQI China Cooperation Team have 4 Objectives, namely improving and standardizing power quality code; power quality case collection and related market research; training for power quality professionals; and strengthening international technological exchange.

        After the member meeting, APQI held a press conference where 19 news media attended, including Beijing TV, State Grid News and Xinhua Net. Mr. Gao Jian, the chief of the Energy Office of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection under the State Development and Reform Commission attended the meeting, he pointed out that China's natural disasters in the first half of 2008 have made much negative impact on China's power supply, therefore, electricity and fuel conservation has become a hot issue in China. Then Madam Isabelle, the project manager of LPQI, Mr. James Li, project manager of APQI, Mr. Pierre Cazelles, senior advisor of APQI and Mr. Xu Yi, member representative from Schneider Electric spoke on the successful experience of LPQI in Europe, the significance of setting up the APQI China Cooperation Team and its operation mode.

        This press conference marked the formal establishment of APQI China Cooperation Team.
